"The Body of Nature" - Sensit Yoga™ Somatics Retreat at Inama Institute Trumer Seenland, Salzburg, Austria

Beautiful natural environments promote our wellbeing. They spontaneously arouse our sensory awareness, inviting us to embody our natural state of peaceful wakefulness.

Sensit Yoga Somatic retreats give us an opportunity to deepen the sense of who we are underneath the mental noise and superficial identities. To embody ourselves means to feel it - in the marrow of our bones - that we are not just IN nature. We are the Earth's body - we ARE nature. There is a deep sense of belonging that accompanies this realisation.

  Sensit Yoga

Sensit Yoga practice and movement

Being this nature-body (or animal-body) gives us access to its wisdom and teachings. It allows us to become more intuitive, better informed about the course of action that serves our healing and growth.

Our movement practice will take place twice daily in this incredibly beautiful, spacious Inama room, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a perfect place for immersing ourselves in the deep inner journey of conscious movement, self-care, and healing practices. Awakened breath, bone intelligence, nourishing organs and fascia, and tunning into the body of fluids, will be our main fields of exploration.

But our practice will not stay only in the yoga room: When awakened, the nature-body will continue to experience and express itself in other surroundings: It will slow down your pace to feel how your feet touch the ground as you walk. It will explore sensations in your hand as you touch the grass, leaves or water, or when you rest your back against the trunk of a tree. It will feel how the food truly tastes when you eat with presence and mental silence. It will feel its cells get nourished by the oxygen, while recognising your symbiotic relationship with the environment. Your individual breath being a part of the Universal breath, that connects all living beings.

With social identities fading into the background, the body of nature reveals that, even our ordinary communication and interactions can have a very different flavor. We become more fully alive and available to each other in the present moment. Available not through judgment or expectations, but through the self that is always present beneath the conditioning - the natural self, with its benevolent curiosity, kindness and joy.

If you are new to Sensit Yoga Somatics:

Sensit Yoga Somatics is a blend of hatha yoga, Body-Mind Centering, Continuum, Feldenkrais and other embodied movement modalities. In this practice we always make sure that we move from the inner body, with sensitivity and awareness. We look for the support coming from our relationship to gravity, and from the connections between our inner spaces and structures. This softens the tensions and our nervous system can relax, become curious and receptive of new learning. This new learning is about caring for the body, honoring the breath, and listening to its guidance. It is about feeling connected to the earth and the environment around us.

In attentive movement, the body communicates where it has been storing the unnecessary tension and we learn how to release this tension by directing our attention and breath, by initiating movement from certain areas, and by working with gravity in particular ways. It becomes much easier to tune into the body's signals, develop our intuition, recognise when we are falling into the unhealthy patterns and automatic reactions, and start to build new patterns of more conscious living.

Unleashing the energy that was used for holding the accumulated tension results in a grounded, energized, joyful and effortless way of moving and being.

 Maja Zilih

Maja is the founder of Sensit Yoga™ Somatics. She has been teaching yoga and meditation since 2007. Her method Sensit Yoga is a mindful and interoceptive practice that aims at expanding the awareness of all the levels of our being. The practice combines yoga asana infused with elements of body-mind centering, natural/primal movement, functional exercises, tension release techniques and movements that arise for each individual in their own way. The sessions always complete with meditation and a long relaxation. Expect to be continuously invited to feel, sense and move from and through your inner body. Sometimes you follow the instructions, other times you inquire into the needs of your unique body and let it take the lead. You explore and utilize your relationship with space and gravity. You play with different ways in which you can awaken fluidity and ease not only in the body and breath but also in the mind. By becoming conscious of your deep primal inner connections you find new source of support. Your body begins to release the unnecessary tension and each movement becomes an opportunity for a total body-mind-spirit integration.

Being born and socialized in a country that produced and reproduced “followers”, I’ve never thought that I will wish one day to “follow” somebody. And here I am, happy to follow you and your spirit, happy to silent the mind and discover the truth around and the truth within. In deep appreciation
